Your Child's Dental Health
We love children and would be happy to help you introduce your child to their first dentist!
The American Pediatric Association recommends a child's first dental visit be between the ages
of two and three. However, if you suspect a problem, we should see your child no matter how
old they are.

Sealants
Sealants are an invisible plastic coating placed on permanent molars as soon they are
erupted to prevent the incidence of decay. The procedure is fast and painless and is at a
significantly lesser cost than a filling.
Mouth Guard
Children and teens who play sports should always wear a mouth guard to prevent serious injury to the teeth. An elbow to the mouth or a fall to the ground can cause permanent damage to a tooth, potentially requiring a root canal, a crown or even an extraction. A custom fit mouth guard is a smart preventive measure and is created after a simple in-office procedure where we take an impression or mould of the mouth.
Orthodontics
Children should have their first orthodontic evaluation after their first permanent molars have erupted/when their six-year-old molars come in. At this time a panoramic radiograph should be taken to verify the existence of all permanent teeth, erupted and non-erupted. This x-ray is important for gaining growth and development information.
Cosmetic dentistry also may require orthodontic treatment. Many adults, including Dr. Anderson and our hygienist Michelle, have had orthodontic treatment in conjunction with other esthetic corrections. The orthodontists we work with use the newest and fastest methods available, including the removable, invisible braces called Invisalign.
